Äänen Lumo Festival For New Sounds is a festival for art with a voice. The 2010 edition consisted of installations as well as concerts and other special events. In the future, the festival will take place bi-annually. For 2011, Äänen Lumo (Charm of Sound) is producing a monhtly series of concerts, titled Vaihe (phase). Vaihe 01 will be held in Kiasma theatre 25 February. The year will see workshops, unusual concert settings and some of the most exciting new music artists from around the globe.

Äänen Lumo

Äänen Lumo is a Finnish non-profit organisation based in Helsinki, est. 1995. We promote art with a voice. Previous acts include Phill Niblock, Keiji Haino, Kaffe Matthews, Pain Jerk, Morton Subotnik, Dror Feiler, John Maus, Kuupuu, Alog, Emi Maeda, Keith Rowe and a host of others. Other activies include anything from setting up workshops to installing gallery pieces.

Additionally, we co-operate with different institutions in creating events (e.g. YLE, MUU, Kunsthall Helsinki etc.). We also do consultation (e.g. NIFCA, Nokia, Kiasma) on the subject of sound-based art, experimental and new music in Finland.
