About
During the autumn season 2007 Charm of Sound program included concert of
Mika Vainio, of Finland's premier electronics group Pan Sonic, and the
legendary pioneering British noise industrial act Consumer Electronics
at Tavastia in October. Of different edge, we heard a contemporary
music group Adapter from Iceland to perform music of Morton Feldman in a
Charm of Sound concert also in October. In November Charm of Sound
produced a club for Avanto Festival, the largest annual event in the
Nordic countries dedicated to experimental music and film. In this
concert we got to witness a reunion of the classic Finnish electro pop
band Organ, soft yet experimental instrumental music of Tape (Sweden),
Pain Jerk's (Japan) colourful noisexplosion, and electroacoustic
explorations by Petri Kuljuntausta. The year ended with a blast of
highly personal rock and roll from mr John Maus (USA) at sold-out Kokoteatteri.
On March 2008, Charm of Sound had a series of 3 concerts in Taidehalli (Art Hall). The successful series featured cellist Juho Laitinen, harpist Saara Rautio, guitarist Topias Tiheäsalo, percussion players Janne Tuomi and Mikael Heikkilä and Swedish composer-performer Dror Feiler. For the rest of the year 2008, CoS held several smaller club-style concerts in various venues. 2009 has been a year of many changes for CoS. In December 2009, we are back in business, with lots of archive material to be released and new concerts well on their way. in the future, CoS will underline the importance of sound art in all of its forms, in this way giving way to other forms of audible expression than musical ones.
